Abstract: Many works have been done on power evaluation of explosives and some evaluation methods presented. However, because of the differences of the explosion characteristics between distributed blast and common condensed explosive, a more reasonable way for evaluating the power of distributed blast is needed. In the paper, for a given range in space, a TNT equivalency method is proposed. Both the physical and mathematical meaning of power are considered in the method. Instead of giving equivalency of some individual points, TNT equivalent value for a certain space range can be obtained based on the method. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
